Spatial ecology and ecosystem analysis

Graduate in Forestry Engineer by the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança and with a M.Sc. degree in Nature Management and Conservation by the Azores University, my work is related to sustainable forestry management by developing a “close to nature” silviculture applied to nature management and conservation, approaching areas such as environmental study and protection of natural resources, human being relationships with the environment, in order to analyze in an interdisciplinary way the problems associated to sustainable development at local and regional scales.
I´m also interested in Landscape Ecology thematic, namely landscape changes over time and its change processes and monitoring parameters, as well as modeling and simulating the interaction structure/change processes in landscapes and their effect in ecosystems services.
I´m currently working in several projects mainly related to nature management and conservation by sustainable forestry management; and analyzing biological monitoring and compensatory mitigation regarding population and community consequences of habitat loss and fragmentation over a range of spatial and temporal scales.
